Field Trip

Location: near Le Roy, NY (30-45 minutes away)

Time: The field trip will be repeated three times to accomodate people's schedules. Each trip can accomodate up to 22 students. Field trips times will be:

November 1st
      8:00AM – 12:00AM
      1:00PM – 5:00PM

November 2nd
      9:00AM – 1:00PM

Bring with you:
1.
Your lab notebook and writing utensils
2. Clothing appropriate to the weather and the trip. We suggest throwing a rain jacket in your backpack just in case (and don't wear clothes that you are afraid to get dirty--this one should be a no-brainer). Also, the fact that it is November means that you should bring clothes that you will be warm in. Gloves in particular are recommended, because field geologists spend a lot of time writing and touching rocks--in short, exposing their hands, which get cold easily.
3. Shoes or boots (we will be visiting a quarry, so NO SANDALS)
4. Water and a snack

Notes:
This field trip is mandatory, so mark your calendars now.  The write-up for this field trip will be 6% of your total grade in the class.

Sign-ups: You can sign up for the field trip time using a sign-up sheet posted on the door of Hutchison 207 (lab room). Sheets will be posted as the field trip dates near; sign-ups will be announced in lecture. Times are decided on a “first come, first serve” basis, so please sign up immediately if you have a scheduling conflict.
